Looking for some great deals on promotional products? I am going to tell you how and what you need to do to get them! Here are the Top 10 Secrets to Save Money on Promotional Products:
- When ordering custom calendars, order them before April 1st. This will allow you to get the least expensive price on calendars. As the year progresses, the cost goes up. And if you wait too long, you run the risk of the calendar being out of stock.
- Plan ahead. Way ahead! If you know of an event say 3-6 months down the road, order your items now. Chances are they can be done cheaper if we go overseas with them. Going overseas can save you as much as 50% off the cost of the products. The only draw back is that they usually take 60-90 days for completion. So plan ahead.
- Don’t wait until the last minute. When you come to me on Monday and tell me you need something on Friday, it’s going to cost more than if you came to me 2 weeks ago! - Search for Clearance or Discontinued items. Clearanced/discontinued items will normally be below the lowest column pricing. Keep an eye out, as they go fast, but can be a great bargain!
- Stick to a 1 Color Imprint. I know you love your 4 color logo - however, when you try to print 4 colors on 500 pieces it gets very costly. Knock you logo down to 1 color and save yourself a bundle!
- Have camera ready artwork. Two words - Vector .eps - this is the main file type needed to print on any promotional product. If you don’t have one, it will cost time to dig one up and/or money to have your artwork recreated. If you’re not sure what a vector .eps file is - read the definition HERE. If you have a vector .eps file, you’ll save yourself money and time on every order, because you’ll be prepared.
Order more. Yes, believe it or not the higher the quantity you order the more money you save. Pricing can drop significantly when you order in higher quantities. - Don’t price shop. The amount of time you spend price shopping, you could have been in touch with one promotional consultant (distributor) and informed them of all of your needs. When you do that, you get exactly what you want, in a short amount of time.
- Know what you want. If you don’t know exactly what you want, you will spend more time digging through websites for what you “think” you want. You will spend countless hours digging & searching and never finding the “right” item.
- Call Your Promotional Consultant. For 2 Reasons - First, you can ask your Promotional Consultant of any specials going on. You have nothing to loose by asking this question. Second, Promotional Consultants will offer you the customer service that websites don’t. Great Post! These are all the things I tell my clients. One more to add - Ask your consultant to order from a supplier near your delivery address. Especially on heavy or bulky items. It saves time and money in shipping.
